Dr Edward J. Halvey MBBS BSc FRCA FANZCA
Dr Edward Halvey is a consultant anaesthetist based in Perth, Western Australia. He graduated in medicine from University College London, where he also achieved a first-class degree in Neuroscience, and went on to complete anaesthetic training in the UK before moving to Australia.
He has broad experience across tertiary anaesthesia, including orthopaedics, obstetrics, regional techniques, acute pain medicine, and intensive care. His clinical practice is focused on patient-centred care, particularly in high-risk and emergency surgery, and he has published research on perioperative pain management, regional anaesthesia, and NSAID safety.
Ed has held consultant positions in both the NHS (UK) and Australia, with leadership roles in acute pain services and opioid stewardship. He is actively involved in teaching and quality improvement, with interests in perioperative optimisation, digital transformation of anaesthetic workflows, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
